High Point Regional Wins NC United Way Spirit Award
The United Way of North Carolina has awarded “Spirit of North Carolina” award to High Point Regional Health System for its outstanding United Way campaign. The health system also won the local Spirit award from United Way of Greater High Point.
Applications for this honor were submitted by the United Way of Greater High Point, and then judged by a panel of United Way professionals from across the state. Standards of excellence included the use of creative ways to make the campaign more fun, per capita giving, support from CEO and management staff, leadership giving, and the percentage of employee participation.
High Point Regional Hospital’s campaign, which was also recognized with a local Spirit of High Point Award, raised over $161,000, surpassing their goal of $132,000. Chairman of this year’s hospital campaign was Bob Duncan, VP and Chief Financial Officer of the Health System.
At their kickoff event, CEO Jeff Miller and all the Vice Presidents, dressed in racing gear in keeping with their NASCAR-type theme “Racing to Win for Greater High Point.” competed in tricycle races while “pit crews” took their temperature and blood pressure. Campaign rallies were also conducted for all 2,300 of the hospital’s employees
