Patients and Visitors > Paying Your Bill
We realize that many people in our community are without health insurance.
Yet accidents and illnesses are a part of life. That's why we make
financial assistance available to those who qualify. We want to work
with you and help you meet your financial responsibilities. Here is
some information about the assistance we provide.
Charity Care Policy
At High Point Regional Health System we use the Federal Poverty Guidelines
to guide our charity policy. If your total family income is within
200 percent (two times) the baseline poverty amount, you pay nothing.
Your entire bill will be written off to charity. Proof of income and
assets is required.
Financing Options
At High Point Regional, we have partnered with Mosaic Finance Solutions to offer you financing options. We can help you
focus on your
medical recovery
and not worry about your
financial recovery.
Partial Charity Discounts
A sliding scale from 210 percent up to 400 percent of Federal Poverty
Guidelines is used to calculate a percentage charity write off. In
other words, a family making four times the Federal Poverty Guidelines
may be eligible for a 10 percent charity discount. Proof of income
and assets is required.
Prompt Pay Discounts For The Uninsured
Patients without health insurance who are not eligible for charity
are eligible for a 40 percent prompt pay discount. To receive this
discount your bill must be paid in full within 30 days from the date
of the first statement. Patients who have health insurance are not
eligible for this discount, but may be eligible for a charity discount
if income qualified.
Financial Counseling
At High Point Regional we employ specially trained staff to assist
you with your bills. We can also help determine eligibility for charity
programs or other ways to finance your hospital bill at low rates
of interest.
Medicaid Eligibility Screening Service
We make every effort to assist patients who may be qualified for Medicaid
to apply for this type of government assistance. Many patients qualify
but do not know they meet the guidelines. Eligibility is always determined
by the state agency, but we will screen you for eligibility and refer
you to the proper authorities to make an application.
For questions about your hospital bill,
you may call our automated billing system 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week at (336) 878-6003. Through this system
you can obtain balance information, learn what insurance the hospital
has on file for you, or request a copy of an itemized bill.
If your question cannot be answered by our automated system, we have Customer
Service Representatives on duty Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
