Please furnish High Point Regional with complete information on your automobile insurance, including the name and address of the other driver(s) involved and the information on their insurance. The parties involved may sometimes get this information from the investigating law enforcement agency or from the accident report. This information is needed in addition to your normal group health insurance coverage information. The hospital will file claims with your automobile insurance on your behalf with the benefits assigned to the hospital. If an attorney represents you, we will send a copy of the billing to your attorney upon receipt of an approved release form. This form must be provided by your attorney and clearly show that you have authorized release of that information to another party. This is a requirement of the federal government under the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

The guarantor on the account is usually the patient or sometimes a parent/guardian. The guarantor is always held accountable for payment. Payment of your debt to the hospital cannot be delayed nor be contingent upon any settlement of judgment eventually recovered.

If you are a Medicare or Medicaid patient, the government requires the hospital to pursue all other sources of payment before we are allowed to file a claim to your government insurance. In fact, filing a claim with your automobile insurance can reduce your Medicare out-of-pocket expense.
