Mini-Gastric Bypass - Results

High Point Regional Health System wants to share our latest report of results on our Mini Gastric Bypass surgeries. This report will be updated quarterly. Since our last report, we've done 650 surgeries.

Many of our patients travel great distances in order to have High Point Regional physicians perform their Mini-Gastric Bypass procedure. Click on the map to see just how far some have traveled.

The following results are based on these specific cases:
 • Average hospital stay is 1.2 days
 • Mortality rate is .2 percent
 • Patients requiring blood transfusion = .4 percent
 • Patients requiring ICU stay = .2 percent
 • Patients with pulmonary embolus = .2 percent
 • Patients with anastomotic leak = .9 percent

Cure rates of associated medical conditions at one-year follow-up:
 • Diabetes = 92 percent
 • High blood pressure = 74 percent
 • High cholesterol = 60-65 percent
 • Shortness of breath = 100 percent
 • Depression = 72 percent
 • Sleep apnea = 60 percent
