High Point Regional Adult Health Center
(previously High Point Medical Outpatient Clinic) provides
health care to the indigent population of the High Point area
of Guilford County. Cooperative planning efforts at High Point
Regional Health System, Guilford Adult Health, and the Guilford
County Department of Public Health have assured the availability
of this valuable service since 1973.
Purpose
• To provide comprehensive, high
quality, ongoing health care for
those patients determined to be
eligible for services.
• To insure continuity of quality care for hospitalized
and/or emergency
department patients who have no private physician
and are eligible
for services.
• To recognize psychological and social problems as
well as physical
illness and to intervene as appropriate.
• To restore and maintain each individual to the fullest
possible state
of well-being.
Services
• Complete physical examination with lab work as needed.
• Diagnosis and treatment of medical illness.
• Pharmacy on site.
• Referrals are made depending on the needs of the
patient.
• Counseling by Health Department Nutritionist within
the Center.
• Health Education teaching by nurses who staff the
Center.
• Appropriate referral to other community agencies
offering additional services, including:

Who Is Eligible?
Guilford County residents 18 years of age or older having:
• Medicaid - persons currently certified by the Guilford
County
Department of Social Services as eligible
for Medicaid.
• County Certification - those certified eligible
by DSS according to
income and reserve scale.
How Do I Apply?
Go to the Guilford County Department of Social Services
at 300 South Centennial Street in High Point to apply for
service.
Payment
Charges for service are based on the patients ability to
pay.
• Medicaid is filed for patients certified as eligible
to receive it.
A co-payment is required by the state
for Medicaid prescriptions and
office visits.
• Medicare is filed for those services covered by
the Medicare
requirement guidelines. A fee schedule
is in place for services
rendered to county-certified patients.
Staff
The staff consists of a Medical Director, Consulting Doctors,
Family Nurse Practitioners, with special training in internal
medicine, that function as primary care providers under
the supervision of the Medical Director Registered Nurses
Management Support Registered Pharmacist Pharmacy Technician
Unit Coordinator and a Program Manager.
