Each
year more than 50,000 residents from the High Point,
Winston-Salem, and Greensboro areas choose
High Point Regional to care for them in all types of
emergencies.
That’s why we’ve invested heavily in the
Emergency Center. A major renovation and addition to
the Emergency
Center was completed in 2001, which essentially doubled
the size of the ED. Even more importantly, the changes
brought
about by the construction have helped in making waiting
times for patients drop dramatically, and patient satisfaction
increase steadily.
In fact, our nurse triaging system makes it possible for
each patient to be assessed by one of our Magnet nurses
within the first few minutes of their arrival, and to see
a provider from Regional Emergency Physicians shortly thereafter.
The new Emergency Center also features private rooms for
each patient. No more thin curtains between you and the
patient
next to you. Our patients consistently comment on how wonderful
it is to have this level of privacy.
Perhaps
most importantly, the Emergency Center features some of
the most high-tech diagnostic and treatment equipment in
the country. For instance, our filmless radiology system
is the first such system in our region and one of only
a handful in the United States. This system represents
a
great leap forward in diagnosing problems quickly and accurately,
allowing treatment to begin as soon as possible. Our high-tech
focus makes it possible for the Emergency Center to treat
everything from broken bones and stitches to complicated
traumas.
Yet with all of this high tech capability, we haven't forgotten
the art of delivering compassionate care. Together the physicians
of Regional Emergency Physicians and our nursing staff work
to make the experience of each patient and family member
the best it can be.
