S.O.S. Medicine
About S.O.S. Medicine
Serious
illnesses such as cancer can pose financial hardships for
patients who do not have prescription medication insurance
coverage. At the Cancer Center of High Point Regional Health
System and Emerywood Hematology and Oncology, we believe that
patients enjoy a better quality of life and better treatment
outcomes when they have access to all the medications they
need.
The Cancer Center and Emerywood Hematology and Oncology have
entered into a partnership to offer a new program, S.O.S.
Medicine, to help qualifying cancer patients gain access to
reduced-cost and sometimes-free medication.
S.O.S. Medicine provides assistance to patients with their
medication expenses by identifying patient assistance programs
offered by pharmaceutical companies. These assistance programs
are often difficult for patients to access on their own. With
S.O.S. Medicine, cancer patients now have a helping hand in
applying for and successfully following through this process
to receive assistance in paying for the medications their
doctors’ prescribe.
Saving money and saving lives
If you have no coverage for prescription drugs through your
insurance, Medicare or Medicaid, you are probably eligible
for S.O.S. Medicine’s services.
By tapping into S.O.S. Medicine’s resources, your medication
costs may be reduced significantly. With support from S.O.S.
Medicine, a medication that previously cost $500 a month may
be made available to you for just $30 a month. Other medications
may be available for free. These are savings that may mean
the difference between being able to take the medication you
need and having to do without.
When you are able to take your needed medications without
delays due to financial constraints, your treatment is more
effective, your life is less stressful and you have fewer
emergency department and doctor’s office visits.
