Gentle Yoga for Cancer Patients
Susan Rostand, physical therapist and certified yoga instructor offers classes designed specifically for cancer patients. No previous experience with yoga is necessary. Participants must complete information forms and physician permission form prior to enrollment. Forms may be obtained by calling Ellen Miller at 878-6000 ext. 3261. All equipment and supplies will be provided. Loose fitting, comfortable clothing is recommended. Class size is limited. Meets each Monday 1 p.m. (known as the Yoga Divas) in the Cancer Resource Center Conference Room. As of February 3, 2010, the class will move to Wednesdays from 10:30-11:45 a.m. and will remain in the same location.

Living With Cancer Support Group
A support group for any cancer patient and/or family member. Janet Forrest, our Oncology Support Counselor facilitates this group, and is the perfect place to meet others who have shared your experience of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and are now "Living with Cancer." The group meets each month on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Cancer Resource Center Conference Room.

Close Knit Knitting Group
This is a healing activity for anyone touched by cancer. Our group is open to all and made up of active patients, family members, volunteers and survivors. Beginners or experienced knitter and crocheters are welcome. The group meets each Wednesday from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. in the Cancer Resource Center. Supplies provided or you may bring your own. All projects will be donated to the patients of the Cancer Center. For more details, contact Ellen Miller in the Resource Center 878-6000, ext. 3261.

Stitches with Love Group Knitting/Crocheting

This is a healing activity for anyone touched by cancer. This group is open to all and made up of active patients, family members, volunteers and survivors of cancer. Beginners or experienced knitters/crocheters are welcome. The group meets every Tuesday from 1 – 2:30 p.m. in the Cancer Resource Center. Supplies are provided or participants may bring their own. All projects will be given to the inpatients of the High Point Regional Cancer Center. For more details, contact Ellen Miller in the Resource Center 878-6000, ext. 3261 or ellen.miller@hprhs.com. CancerFitt-Exercise for Cancer Patients
CancerFitt is a 12-week/24 session supervised, group exercise class consisting of progressive cardiovascular, strength and flexibility exercises, along with guided relaxation techniques and informative education session all lead by an exercise physiologist. Classes meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-4:00pm in the Fitness Center located on the first floor of the Carolina Regional Heart Center at High Point Regional Hospital. Cost is $170 (not insurance reimbursable), with available scholarships and a physician release required to participate. ReVitalize: Cancer Related Fatigue Program
ReVitalize is a one-on-one service of the Rehabilitation Center at High Point Regional Health System; it is designed for cancer survivors in a state of overwhelming exhaustion and decreased ability to perform physical and metal work that is not relieved by rest. ReVitalize clients are evaluated and treated for fatigue and musculoskeletal deficits by our licensed physical therapist, Lois Powers. ReVitalize requires a physician referral and is insurance billable. Appointments are scheduled at the client’s convenience. You can contact Lois directly at 878-6000, ext. 2472.

Look Good, Feel Better Program
Look Good, Feel Better is a free American Cancer Society (ACS) program that teaches beauty techniques to women cancer patients in active treatment to help them combat the appearance related side effects of cancer treatment. Learn how to use make up to enhance your complexion as well as ways to disguise hair loss with wigs, scarves and other accessories. Held the first Monday of every month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Cancer Resource Center. Call 1-800-227-2345 to register.

American Cancer Society
Nicole Witten, Mission Delivery Manager from the American Cancer Society is in the Cancer Resource Center every third Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to answer questions regarding the support services of ACS. Please come by and learn more. Volunteer opportunities available; if interested, contact Nicole at 834-0844.

CancerCare Educational Telephone Workshops
CancerCare is a non-profit organization that offers free Telephone Education Workshops as a way for people to learn about cancer-related issues from the convenience of their home or office. These are interactive educational programs to help participants better understand and cope with diagnosis, treatment options, quality-of-life concerns, treatment side effects, pain management, doctor-patient communication and other important topics. All that is needed is a telephone. Participation is free, and no phone charges apply. Pre-registration is required. Click here to register online or call CancerCare at 1-800-813-HOPE (4673).
