Accreditations

Accreditation by the Commission on Cancer

Our oncology program has been awarded certification as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program with Commendation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.  This is a recognition of the quality of our comprehensive, multi-disciplinary patient care. We're dedicated to offering the best in cancer diagnosis and care and are proud to have brought the very best in today's cancer treatment closer to home. For more information, click here.

Accredited Radiation Therapy Facility

According to the American College of Radiology (ACR), the High Point Regional Cancer Center’s Department of Radiation Oncology has received its highest designation, making it the firstACR-accredited radiation therapy facility in the Piedmont Triad. The ACR accreditation ensures that staff in the Radiation Oncology Department is qualified through certifications, licensure and education. The equipment and technologies used have been found to be of the highest quality, ensuring High Point Regional's facility either meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines.

Accreditation for Computed Tomography (CT)

The Imaging Department at High Point Regional Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). CT scanning - sometimes called CAT scanning - is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions. The ACR gold seal of accreditation signifies the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

Quality Oncology Practice Initiative

Emerywood Hematology and Oncology, the medical oncology practice located at The Hayworth Cancer Center, recently completed their Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) participation. The QOPI® participation is the first step toward achieving QOPI® certification.

The QOPI® program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), is an oncologist-led, practice-based quality improvement program. QOPI®’s goal is to promote excellence in cancer care by helping practices create a culture of self-examination and improvement. The process employed for improving cancer care includes measurement, feedback and improvement tools for hematology-oncology practices.

This is an elite achievement, with few oncology practices nationwide having received this certification. Congratulations to Emerywood’s dedicated oncologists who have taken and well surpassed this crucial first step to further promote the highest quality cancer care as defined by the clinician experts.

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is an internationally recognized program based on the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Standards. Designed to go well beyond regulatory compliance, the program provides a solid foundation for quality practices and helps laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence to positively impact patient care.

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Standards are translated into detailed and focused Checklist requirements. The Checklists, which provide a blueprint of quality practices for laboratories to follow, constantly evolve to reflect changes in technology and are tailored specifically to the size and scope of individual laboratories. This inspection program is designed to specifically put the patient first.
