The mission of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of healthcare accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in healthcare organizations.

Magnet Recognition
The Magnet designation is the highest level of recognition the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accords to organized nursing services. The award recognizes health care organizations exhibiting excellence in nursing services to patients, the existence of an environment that supports professional nursing practice and growth and development of nursing staff. Magnet institutions act as "magnets" by attracting and retaining outstanding nurses and creating a work environment that recognizes and rewards professional nursing. High Point Regional Hospital has maintained Magnet status since 2001.

Accreditation for Pathology
On January 5 the College of American Pathologist (CAP) awarded High Point Regional Health’s Pathology Department a two-year term of accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation. This national recognition designates High Point Regional’s Pathology Department as achieving excellence in the services provided, making it one of approximately 6,000 CAP-accredited Pathology laboratories nationwide. The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program began in the early 1960’s and is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program.
Accredited By the American College of Radiology
According to the American College of Radiology (ACR), the High Point Regional Cancer Center’s Department of Radiation Oncology has received its highest designation, making it the only ACR-accredited radiation therapy facility in the Piedmont Triad, and one of only two in the state of North Carolina.
Accreditation for Radiology
High Point Regional Imaging Department has received accreditation in the areas of ultrasound, mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Nuclear Medicine. The ACR accreditation ensures that staff in the Radiation Oncology Department is qualified through certifications, licensure and education. The equipment and the technologies used have been found to be of the highest quality, ensuring High Point Regional's facility either meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
Primary Stroke Center Certification
High Point Regional Health has received the Joint Commission's Certificate of Distinction for Primary Stroke Centers. The commission recognizes centers that make exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke care. Achievement of certification signifies that the services you provide have the critical elements to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes. It is the best signal to your community that the quality care you provide is effectively managed to meet the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients. In fact, demonstrating compliance with these national standards and performance measurement expectations may help obtain contracts from employers and purchasers concerned with controlling costs and improving productivity.
Accredited Chest Pain Center
The Society of Chest Pain Centers is a patient centric non-profit international professional organization focused upon improving care for patients with acute coronary syndromes and other related maladies. Established in 1998, the Society is dedicated to patient advocacy and focusing on ischemic heart disease. Central to its mission is the question, “What is right for the patient?” In answer, the Society promotes protocol based medicine, often delivered through a Chest Pain Center model, to address the diagnosis and treatment of acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, and to promote the adoption of process improvement science by healthcare providers. To best fulfill this mission, the Society of Chest Pain Centers provides accreditation to facilities striving for optimum Chest Pain Center care.
Accredited Acute Rehab Center
Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of human service providers in the areas of aging services, behavioral health, child and youth services, DMEPOS, employment and community services, medical rehabilitation, and opioid treatment programs.
The mission of CARF is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through accreditation that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. The organization is trying to continually improve its services must be able to recognize and measure improvement. Through the results you achieve from its services, the organization finds out how well it is doing and where it needs to improve. CARF's purpose is to improve the quality of services that enhance the lives of the persons served. The CARF family of organizations currently accredits more than 5,900 providers at more than 19,000 locations on four continents.
High Point Regional Health has been accredited by CARF since September 14, 2004. The accreditation was just renewed in October 2010.

Bariatric Surgery Center Receives ACS Accreditation
High Point Regional Health has been approved for Bariatric Surgery Accreditation by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Our bariatric surgery program was established in 2002, and surgeons Thomas R. Walsh, MD and James Dasher, MD have completed over 1,000 minimally invasive gastric bypass procedures thus far.

Medical Fitness Association Certification
The Fitness Center at High Point Regional is a certified by the Medical Fitness Association (MFA). It is a non-profit organization, formed in 1991 to assist medically integrated health and fitness centers achieve their full potential. The Association is a professional membership organization whose mission is to ascertain and respond to the needs of medically integrated centers throughout the world. As a resource to the medical fitness industry, MFA is 100% focused on medical fitness, and is the first association to have focused on hospital fitness and wellness. Medical fitness is our #1 mission--and our only mission.
