The Rives Race is named for Warren Rives,
Jr., a hospital board member who died of a heart attack
at the age of 41. The annual 3.1-mile road race and 1-mile
fun run is held the 3rd Saturday in September each year.
Prizes are given in three divisions, as well as medals
for age group winners. The race is timed using Championship
Chip Timing. There are t-shirts, door prizes, health screens,
food and entertainment. All proceeds benefit the Heart Strides
Scholarship Fund. Registration begins in August.
