Regional Center for Bariatric Surgery Earns Recertification
The Regional Center for Bariatric Surgery at High Point Medical Center earned recertification as a Bariatric Center of Excellence from the Clinical Sciences Institute of OptumHealth Care Solutions.
“The staff at the Bariatric Center is an exceptional team,” said Carin Hiott, director of Chronic Care at High Point Medical Center. “It is not just their knowledge and expertise that sets them apart, it is truly the genuine care and concern they have for each individual patient.”
The truth is: Not all health care providers are created equal. For complex medical conditions, the disparity is especially high. Through a rigorous evaluation process, OptumHealth has developed Centers of Excellence networks that provide access to clinically superior, cost effective health care.
High Point is becoming a center for bariatric surgery for patients across the country who seek the healthful improvement that significant weight loss can have on an individual’s lifestyle and health. High blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, and elevated cholesterol are just a few of the complications faced by people who are severely overweight. Because the health consequences of obesity can be so severe and because obesity has reached epidemic proportions in our community and across America, High Point Medical Center’s Regional Center for Bariatric Surgery in partnership with Cornerstone Healthcare is pleased to offer a low-risk surgical procedure for significant weight loss right here in High Point.
Regional Center for Bariatric Surgery offers four surgical weight loss options– The Sleeve Gastric Bypass (SGB), sometimes referred to as the Mini Gastric Bypass, Roux en Y Gastric Bypass (RNY), Sleeve Gastrectomy and the Adjustable Gastric Banding (AGB). Excellent weight loss results can be realized by any of the procedures, particularly when patients are dedicated to following their surgeon’s post operative diet and follow up recommendations.
Bariatric surgical procedures have been shown to effectively treat obesity and to significantly reduce the health risks associated with excess weight. For these reasons, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) BSCN accreditation program recognizes facilities with the highest quality standards of care and which maintain excellent clinical outcomes for their patients. Regional Bariatrics is proud to be accredited through the ACS demonstrating our commitment to overall quality and our patient's safety and success.
