Prostate Cancer Events to Highlight Keys to Survivorship
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month and the Cancer Center at High Point Regional Health System is coordinating several events intended to spread the important message to men that early detection is the key to survivorship.
Awareness events include:
Tuesday, September 21 at 5:30 p.m., Liberty Steakhouse and Brewery will generously host a â€œPints for Prostatesâ€ fundraiser event to benefit the â€œUs Tooâ€ Prostate Cancer Support Group of the Cancer Center at High Point Regional. The event is the first of its kind in the Triad and takes place in the bar area of the restaurant. In addition, Liberty is also donating a percentage of sales for every pint of its award winning â€œMiss Liberty Lagerâ€ during the entire month of September.
Wednesday, September 22 at 7 p.m., Drs. Bart Frizzell, Craig Hall and Vallathucherry Harish will present an educational seminar, â€œProstate Cancer: Know Your Options.â€ Participants will learn more about the importance of being fully aware of treatment options and the resources available through the centerâ€™s Prostate and GU Clinic. Thursday, September 23, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the first-ever support group meeting for men with prostate cancer will meet in the Cancer Resource Center. Call the Contact Center at (336) 878-6888 to register.
Tuesday, September 28 beginning at 5:30 p.m., a free prostate cancer screening will be offered to men at the Cancer Center. Pre-registration is required by calling the Contact Center at (336) 878-6888.
