High Point Medical Center’s Millis Regional Health Education Center Offers Summer Camp Opportunity for Elementary Students
High Point, NC — Thousands of children visit the Millis Regional Health Education Center each year to experience our unique form of “edu-tainment.” The information they learn helps create a healthier future for area youth.
As Bethany, age 9, said in a poem, “Millis Regional Health Education Center is the best; it is so fun you cannot rest. Human body and your teeth, senses also are so neat. With your body you can come to this place to have some fun. With your teeth you'll want to tell all your teachers, "take me there.” With your senses you can see, Millis Regional Health Center is the place to be!”
Children now have the opportunity to attend a week-long, half day summer camp at the Millis Regional Health Education Center. Through a partnership with Theater Arts Galleries (TAG), local children will learn healthy habits while developing their art skills at the same time.
“For over 10 years, the Millis Regional Health Education Center has offered nearly 140,000 school-age children the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe, healthy environment. We are thrilled to partner with TAG and offer the community summer camps that will educate kids about healthy lifestyle habits in a fun, interactive setting,” said Tessa Grogan, Millis Regional Health Education Coordinator.
Summer camp participants will have the opportunity not only to engage in healthy activities, but to learn through a hands-on art project, involving painting a healthy wall mural.
Each five-day camp is designed to give campers insight into different health objectives. Children will learn how the digestive system works, meal portions, dental health and have the opportunity to meet doctors, nurses and even ambulance drivers!
The Millis Regional Health Education Center is a service of High Point Medical Center.
