High Point Regional Wins NC Baldrige Award
High Point Regional Health System has received a North Carolina Award for Excellence (NCAfE), the only Baldrige criteria based award granted by the state for achieving performance excellence.
The four-level program helps organizations by assessing their performance using the Baldrige criteria as they progress toward performance excellence. The Baldrige National Quality Award, named after the late U.S. Secy. of Commerce, Malcolm Baldrige, recognizes leadership in quality improvement on the national level.
High Point Regional Health System has been awarded the NCAfE “Commitment ” level award. The Commitment Award is given to organizations that have demonstrated, through commitment and practice of performance management principles, progress in building sound and notable processes, as well as, a solid approach to system-level performance management, implementing plans and procedures.
High Point Regional Health System is one of only four hospitals recognized and was given the award at the NC Conference for Excellence during a special luncheon today. “We are very honored by this award,” said Jeffrey Miller, President of High Point Regional Health System. “We are committed to making High Point Regional one of the best hospitals in the country, and the Baldrige process is helping us do just that.”
The organizations submit responses to the Baldrige criteria, which are assessed by a group of NCAfE examiners and verified at a site visit. Subsequently, a formal feedback report is provided by NCAfE that identifies the organization’s strengths, opportunities for improvement and item scoring.
