High Point Regional Wins Best Places to Work Award
High Point Regional Health System has been selected as a winner in the third annual Best Places to Work in the Triad contest. The award is given by the Business Journal, and was given to High Point Regional this year because of the “customer-centric” culture at work in the Health System.
The Business Journal’s distinguished panel of judges was impressed with the Health System’s “Target Excellence” initiative, which has been instrumental in putting customer’s needs first in all aspects of the Health System’s operation. The panel was also impressed that High Point Regional’s definition of customer went beyond patients and family members, to include employees and medical staff.
Several specific activities put Target Excellence into action including having employees develop organizational values and standards of behavior to address common workplace concerns such as communication, commitment to co-workers, appearance and attitude. Another new addition at High Point Regional is a monthly open forum with President, Jeff Miller, via the “Breakfast with the President” meeting.
“We are determined to build a world-class work environment here so that we can attract and keep the very best employees,” said Miller. “Creating that kind of environment benefits everyone. It’s the reason we have a low nurse vacancy rate; it’s the reason our employees’ satisfaction is so high when we take our employee survey; and it’s the reason we’re honored with things like Magnet status and Best Places to Work awards.”
