High Point Regional VP promoted to COO

Martha Barham, RN, recently Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, at High Point Regional Health System, has assumed a new role in the organization as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Barham, a Trinity resident and native of Burlington, began her career at High Point Regional in September of 1978 as a staff nurse. She worked in a number of leadership roles in nursing until 1996 when she was promoted to Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer. She is a graduate of UNC Charlotte with a BS in Nursing and holds a MSN from UNC Greensboro.
Her many professional and community activities include being president of the North Carolina Nurses Association, serving as a member of UNCG’s School of Nursing Advisory Board, Board of Directors of Hospice of the Piedmont, and a current appointment by the governor to the NC Medical Care Commission.
According to High Point Regional’s President, Jeff Miller, “Martha has been responsible for the hospital’s Inpatient Team, and created the Collaborative Care Patient Management Model for the hospital. Through her many accomplishments it is clear that she is well prepared to assume this new role as Chief Operating Officer.”
