High Point Regional Names New Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President
HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point Regional Health System announced today the promotion of Greg Taylor, M.D. to chief operating officer and Linda Roney to senior vice president in charge of business and market development. These new positions will be officially installed on July 1, 2011.

In Taylor’s new role he will have direct reporting responsibility for nursing, human resources, and for ancillary services. In addition, Taylor will begin the process of recruiting a replacement for his position of vice president and chief medical officer. When that individual is identified he/she will also report to Taylor. Finally, Taylor will assume responsibility for the health system’s information technology program.
Taylor is currently vice president, chief medical officer and corporate compliance officer at High Point Regional. Previously Taylor was senior vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, NC.
Taylor received a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He earned his medical degree from Bowman Gray Medical School (Wake Forest University School of Medicine) in Winston-Salem, NC. He earned a Master of Science in Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University) in Richmond.
In Roney’s new position she will continue her role working with the health system’s subsidiaries, including Regional Physicians physician practices, and in addition will assume responsibility for planning, facilities, business intelligence and related functions.
Roney is currently vice president of Business & Market Development at High Point Regional. She moved from Indiana to serve as High Point Regional’s director of the Laboratory in 1982. She has been at High Point Regional for 29 years.
Roney received a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from Northern Illinois University and earned a Master of Health Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from Pfeiffer University. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
