High Point Medical Center Earns Top Grade for Patient Safety from Leapfrog
New Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S., were announced today by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog. High Point Medical Center was one of 844 hospitals to receive an “A”, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition demonstrating our commitment to quality and patient safety,” said Ernie Bovio, High Point Medical Center CEO & President. “We are proud of the work our team provides each and every day, and we are pleased that our patients can rest assured knowing the quality of our care has been thoroughly evaluated and found to be among the best in the country,”
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization that strives to promote safety, quality and affordability of health care in the U.S. by promoting transparency. The Hospital Safety Score uses a wide range of evidence-based measures related to patient safety to calculate a numerical score for more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals. The numerical safety score is then converted into a letter grade (A, B, C, D or F) designed to give the public free and unbiased information they can use to protect themselves and their families. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
“Protecting patients from harm is the most important charge for any hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We recognize and appreciate ‘A’ hospitals’ vigilance and continued dedication to keeping their patients safe.”
