20th Annual Warren Rives 5K/Fun Run/Pedal Push
Just a few more weeks for the 20th annual Warren Rives 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run to benefit Heart Strides cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. This year the heart healthy day includes the Pedal Push for cyclists of all levels.
Runners and families are cycling and training for the race, which will take place on Sat., Sept. 16, at High Point Regional Health System on N. Elm St. in High Point.
Join us for a Fun Run, a one-mile run for all age groups that begins at 8 a.m. Registration closes at 7:45 a.m. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. – rain or shine. Check-in begins at 6:00 a.m., but participants are urged to pre-register.
Cyclists in the Pedal Push take off as soon as the runners leave, about 8:35, from the Fitness Center entrance of the hospital, off Quaker Lane. The fee is $25 ($45 for couples, $70 per family).
Entry fee for the 5K is $25, $5 for the Fun Run. Race day festivities include food, music, prizes and a kids’ corner. T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 350 5K entries.
The Warren Rives 5K Run/Walk & Fun Run are named in honor of Warren J. Rives Jr., a generous supporter of the community who died of a heart attack at age 41. His family established the Rives Trust Fund through High Point Regional to ensure cardiac awareness and rehabilitation for others. The Heart Strides scholarship program was one of the first in the nation to assist patients who are not financially able to participate in cardiac and pulmonary rehab.
